Freshwater Railway is Southeast Michigan's Regional Rail System. When we say regional, we mean Detroit, Ann Arbor, Port Huron, Flint, Toledo, Howell, Adrian, Jackson, Windsor and all points inbetween. There's a few different parts of the Freshwater Railway system. Beyond Regional Rail, we offer three flavors of bus service to maximize connectivity.

Connector Bus mode icon

If your community doesn't have a rail station, you're still hooked in to the network. Our Connector bus lines act as extensions of the rail lines. Access a Connector bus close to home, then enjoy a speedy ride to the nearest rail station. With comfortable highway coaches, synched-up bus-rail connections, and limited stops, it's your best way to the station.

Detroit and Ann Arbor are the hubs of the rail system. They're two great cities with a lot to see and do. If your destination isn't walking distance from a rail station, our direct, frequent Relay bus routes bridge the gap. Ann Arbor Relay buses are free; Detroit Relay buses are free with any valid rail fare. They'll all get you closer to the action than the best parking space ever could.
